The winning team (judged by the family matriarch on taste, presentation, and the degree to which they have avoided burning the coconut sambol) eats first. Afternoon options: optional Sigiriya Rock climb, Minneriya elephant safari (two jeeps, the largest wild elephant gathering in Asia), or leisure at the resort.

The morning drive south through the tea country to Yala takes four hours. Optional stop at a tea estate for a walking tour and tasting — useful as a team activity with the natural competitive element of a blind tea tasting. The afternoon arrival is followed by the sundowner on the beach: the full group, the Indian Ocean, the arrack sours, the safari brief from the Chena Huts tracker. Tomorrow morning begins at 6am.
